Let it Snow

IMG_4615 IMG_4614

Ah, its Spring here, with us being blessed with gifts of strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb for our garden, all “weeded out” by a friend this year. The warmth is serving us well.

And yet, we were blessed with a little taste of winter last week, at Kurt’s family cabin – Knouff Lake.

Fresh, outdoors, wood fire, forest, silence, open water, and even a teeny tiny (10 second!) ski hill. Bliss!

Balance. Smiles. Crashes. Every run different. Endless.

I even took a few runs on our (partly man made) ski hill!

And the last morning, I was THRILLED to find enough inches covering the ground to get a 1/2 hour ski in before anyone woke up.

Up and down the driveway. Three times.

I had prayed for 1 last ski. My morning (over tired) heart was singing.

Our 5 year old has lost 3 teeth. What a girl!

My husband has some silly ideas… and, has learned to knit!

Thanks for another great stay at Knouff. We are grateful.

I’ve finished 7 months in my new work space…

I often spent 10 hour days there (with a midday break to see my own kids afterschool).

My plate is full. Meaning if I look at the targets I set for myself, that my family relies upon, my “work weeks” are full until May 2nd.

Some over full… 2-5 clients/week over my targets.

My own kids love the space.

Most kids I meet don’t want to leave. They love coming back.

I love bringing joy to families.

I’m also tired!

And the calls keep coming in…

I’ve always been able to accommodate everyone who calls.

Now I must find a “no” in me… and start a waitlist? What a crazy concept.

Well that’s my wee update as we head into Spring.

Loving spring break with my family.

Loving colorful meals.

Distracted by little cuties

IMG_4612 IMG_4609

Well, here we are, 9pm and starting to pack up for a road trip…

We tried to pack earlier, we really did (and the kids got their suitcases done!), but then we got distracted by some little cuties.

Well, and by making sourdough bread (5 loaves) at 10pm last night.

And by taking the kids to their last swim lesson (5 in a row this week! yah!). Here’s Stefan in one of his first back floats:

Beside him is the treasured teddy Daria has had since she was a baby – the only stuffie she’s ever cuddled (and can’t sleep without!).

She decided to give him a bath today. I think, like the Velveteen Rabbit, he has been loved so much he has come alive.

I hope our kids feel as warn out as this teddy from all the cuddles and love shared today.

Nothing stops, the same rhythm each day. Little differences. Lots the same.

Music. Winding yarn. Tent play in the carport. Laundry.

Happiness of a toy car found at the beach volley ball court. Then later tears cuz as it was all too quickly lost.

Funny conversations like… what should the function of a belly button be? More laundry.

Funny home videos made of all the clutter that is about (I can’t wait to look back in 20 yrs and gut myself about this all over again!).

Learning to eat edamame out of the pod (and not chew the pod, sorry Stefan!).

All this (and a great deal more!). And, yes, more laundry.

As I struggled to find a laundry basket (seriously!) amidst all the clutter…

I felt, this is it. This is life. This is our day. And our days.

Our little seedlings. On this first day of Spring. I love you, all three. Thanks for the fullest, best family day ever.

While Mom is away…

For 7 of the last 13 sleeps I have missed out on kissing sweet sleepy heads, reading Laura Ingalls Wilder cozy in our bunks, and haven’t woke up with a pile of children in my bed: IMG_4551 I’ve been away from my family more in the last 2 weeks than I have in almost 8 years! As little J’s teacher so wisely advised me: if you haven’t done this before you’ll feel yourself STRETCH across the miles… Indeed. It is hard to put into words just how it feels to leave these 3 beauties… what really made it possible to be out there learning, learning, learning, was hearing how well they were doing!! IMG_4532 IMG_4542 I am grateful they were able to “hold on” to me, even when we were physically apart… through the invisible string of love that connects us all everywhere and anywhere… And I am so grateful for all the family that visited!! Amazing timing.     IMG_4506 IMG_4517 IMG_4519  IMG_4576 It will take a while for me to feel like I’ve landed again. Traveling sure is exhausting! I’m a funny traveler now too… brought little comforts of home like favorite stuffed animals, my favorite blanket, and even my yoga bolster to snuggle up with at night. I had a great experience. Met awesome people. Was well taken care of. Enjoyed standing to watch the kettle boil. And, I am incredibly grateful to be back in the land of family, where waffles and raspberries are served for breakfast, my amazing husband and I can stare up at the stars before going off to sleep, and dozens of hugs and kisses are on my menu every day!!
