Feelin’ the chef in me is on strike… made some awesome muffins this afternoon which everyone gobbled up, and now… dinner…
Off to my standby – “eggs and spuds” – only we have a few small spuds at the bottom of the barrel to work with.
Now to make something out of nothing (a great kids book!). Off I go before 4 hungry bikers come home…
I won’t take long to share tonight as I am so incredibly stretched out from tip to tail and core to skin, from the most incredible yoga teacher I’ve found since moving to the Cowichan Valley… or maybe since ever.
I must share that this year I feel so embracing of Fall. Welcome!
I feel no need to hang onto the energy and warmth of summer (though I may eat my words when the rains hit full force…).
I am so happy to enjoy things like the cool forest canopy. Dark evenings. Candlelight. Warm soups. Slippers. Blankets. Turning the soil to prepare our garlic beds.
Pumpkin Pie. Warm baths. Especially filled with the silliest wind up toys ever!
I saw these guys and bought them just for fun. Just for the giggles they’d bring…
Life is good. Really. We MUST embrace each breath. What I love most about this yoga teacher is her connection to our large intestine, our diaphragm, our spleen, and breath… and appreciation for the gift of our body.
I feel due to have a year of “just for fun” moments… stay tuned! Perhaps it all starts with a wind up toy.
Feelin’ wound up of summer and ready to roll into Autumn.
I was all ready to write a big expose about all the exciting firsts I’ve experienced lately… my first homemade canned salsa, our first successful neighborhood bbq, the first song I can play on the piano, and finally the first time a babysitter has put my son to bed.
Then I realized, all I want to share is how happy I am and how fortunate I feel to be able to spend 3 mornings a week with my little boy. A boy who is almost 3 and has so much to share with the world… and who I learn more about every day. He’s been patiently waiting for his turn to have his mummy’s undivided attention… and… the time is here!
I could not be more excited to spend quality time with you, Mr. Stefan. Stefan Befan. Our little brother. Bundle of love.
See you in the morning bright!
Its a big day for our family. Janelle’s first full day of Kindergarten… She is now on the BMX and it feels so good to watch her pump up those hills – one determined little girl.
It always amazes me that each child seems to choose a card for their cubby that suits them best… here is Janelle’s (under the pink shoes) – a girl riding a horse – Janelle is fast, hangs on tight in this ride called life, and has an uncanny ability to focus and stay on the horse, despite any challenges that might come her way.
She also gets tuckered out at the end of the day like a girl whose been on a horse all day would… and curls into bed, getting cozy in her blankets like none other. She knows her body and appreciates lying down when exhausted!
Daria also had her rose ceremony today… when we thought of coming to Sunrise this ceremony was one that touched our hearts. Thinking of a school-wide assembly where Gr. 8 children pass a rose to Gr. 1 buddies, to welcome them to the Grades School. These buddies will hang out at different times all year long. Here is Daria’s buddy:
The teachers on the left are Ms. Markovich (Daria’s teacher) and Ms. Price (on right) – the Gr. 1 and Gr. 8 teachers… you can find out more about them here.
Feel so fortunate today to be self-employed… while it was my “work day” I was still able to set 1/2 hour aside and attend this special rose ceremony… what a gift. Grateful. Honored.
Soooooo happy to watch my girls grow into solid, strong, unique individuals.
