Yesterday we had a friend over to play. O. is lovely and has a kind heart, she is sweet and creative, and… she wanted to go in our hot tub. Only… it was empty! I had recently read a post from my friend J (who inspired this blog). No sooner had O. had the idea, then she had the lid flipped, and was in the empty tub! Well, I took the idea and ran with it…
The kids all scoured and scrubbed, they scooped and they wrung… and – then the hot tub was clean and empty! Time to refill.
It was so cold that I ended up running in with buckets of warm water from the tap and creating little pools for them to sit and curl up in (see top photo). After all our fun it was 5pm, so time for a simple dinner. We’d just done pasta & pesto (homemade from garlic scapes!) and it was time for “the mighty tuber” served with some green and home made Caesar dressing:
Caesar dressing (from Rebar): 1 bulb roasted garlic, juice of 1 lemon, 1 T capers, 1 T caper juice, 1.5 t dijon mustard, 2 garlic cloves, 0.25 t salt, 0.25 t pepper, 1/3 c parmesan cheese grated. Mix all this together in blender and blend – then add 1c. olive oil slowly in a drizzle until mixed. YUMM!
